Leap vs SpeechifyA Speechify alternative, compared

Leap makes voice-overs: paste a script and hear it read by Eleven v4, Eleven v3, MiniMax Speech, Gemini and more in one studio, beside the video models your voice-over goes on. It doesn't read your PDFs or web pages aloud. You pay per character in dollars, with no plan, and credit you pay for doesn't expire.

$2 of credit to start, no card needed.

Where they differ

On Leap, not on Speechify

  • Pay as you go, with no yearly plan: top up from $5 and pay by the character.
  • Every voice-over downloads and is yours to use commercially from your first run, the free $2 included.
  • Voices from ElevenLabs, MiniMax, Google, OpenAI and Microsoft on one balance, so you can read one script with several.
  • Video in the same studio: a talking photo that says your script, captions burned into a clip, or a narrated faceless video.

On Speechify, not on Leap

  • A reader app for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Chrome that reads PDFs, docs, web pages and books aloud at up to 5x speed. Leap has nothing like it.
  • Voice typing, AI summaries and AI podcasts in the Premium reader.
  • 1,000+ voices, and voice cloning on paid Studio plans.
  • Lower prices for heavy use: a $100 year of Studio Starter covers up to 24 hours of voice-over, and the API starts at $6 per million characters.

Questions

Questions people ask

Can Leap read a PDF or a web page aloud?
No. Leap reads the script you paste into a voice model, up to 5,000 characters a run with Eleven v4 or 10,000 with MiniMax Speech 2.8 HD, and you download the recording. To listen to documents and books as you go, Speechify's reader app is built for that.
Can I use the voice-overs commercially?
Leap's Terms say that, as between you and Leap, you own the results the studio makes for you, to the extent the law allows, and they set no personal-use-only limit. On Speechify Studio, paid plans include commercial rights and the free plan doesn't.
Can I clone my voice on Leap?
No. Each model reads your words in its own preset voices. The ElevenLabs Voice Changer can say a recording of yours again in one of its voices. Leap's Acceptable Use Policy forbids making a voice that passes for a real person who hasn't agreed.
Does credit expire on Leap?
Credit you pay for doesn't expire while Leap is offered, and there is no yearly plan to renew.
Is Leap free to try?
Yes. A new account starts with $2 of credit and needs no card; the table on this page shows how much speech that reads with each model. After that you add credit from $5 and pay by the character.
