Leap vs PikaA Pika alternative, compared

Leap makes the clips Pika is known for, where a photo melts, inflates or turns out to be cake, and the same studio runs Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.5 and Hailuo for everything else. You pay for each run in dollars, with no plan, and what you make is yours to use commercially from the first run.

$2 of credit to start, no card needed.

Pick the right one

Where they differ

On Leap, not on Pika

  • Pay as you go: no plan, and credit you pay for doesn't expire.
  • Commercial use from your first run, the free $2 included.
  • Kling 3.0, Kling O3, Hailuo and PixVerse, which Pika doesn't run, beside the Seedance, Veo and Wan models it does.
  • One balance for the studio, the API and the MCP server, at the same prices.

On Pika, not on Leap

  • Pikaffects: over 50 one-tap effects from a photo, such as Squish it, Melt it and Cake-ify it, for about 5 credits each, far less than an effect recipe on Leap.
  • Its own Pika 2.5, Pikaframes and Pikadditions, and Pika Speech, Music and SFX.
  • Video Studio clips of up to 30 seconds, in several shots. Seedance 2.5 on Leap goes to 15 seconds.
  • Kits and tools such as Short Film, Podcast Video, Camera Director, Relight Media and Color Grade, and apps for iPhone.

What it costs

What a run costs on Leap

A new account comes with $2 of credit and no card. The table shows each model's cheapest run and about how many the credit covers. After that you add credit and pay per run, and a run that fails costs nothing.

ModelFromWhat $2 makes

Veo 3.1$0.88for 4 sAbout 2 clips
Seedance 2.5$0.60for 5 s with soundAbout 3 clips

Each price is one run at the model's lowest-priced settings, from the live catalog. Larger sizes, longer clips and sound cost more, and the studio shows the exact price before every run. How pricing works.

Questions

Questions people ask

Can I use Pika's own models on Leap?
No. Pika 2.5, Pikaframes and Pikaffects run only on Pika. Leap runs Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.5, Hailuo and others, plus its own one-photo effects such as Meltdown, Balloon Mode and It's Cake.
Does Leap have effects like Pikaffects?
Yes, each made from one photo: Meltdown, Balloon Mode, It's Cake, Skyscraper Stomp, Clone Army and more. Each is priced per second before you press Generate, and costs more than a Pikaffect.
Can I use what I make commercially?
Leap's Terms say that, as between you and Leap, you own the results the studio makes for you, to the extent the law allows, and they set no personal-use-only limit. On Pika, commercial use comes with the Creator and Fancy plans, and Free and Starter don't include it.
Does credit expire on Leap?
Credit you pay for doesn't expire while Leap is offered. On Pika, plan credits refresh each billing period, and packs expire 365 days after purchase.
Is Leap free to try?
Yes. A new account starts with $2 of credit and needs no card; the table on this page shows how many clips that makes with each model. After that you add credit from $5 and pay for each run.
