From this photo
The barber, smiling. A real run, made from the photo in the corner.

Add a photo and get it back as a 5 or 10 second clip: the people in it breathe and blink, smile, or catch a breeze, or the camera pushes in slowly. It is made to keep the faces, clothes and background you shot.

Real runs

What it has made

Each one came back as you see it, from the photo in its corner where there is one. The people are generated: no real person's face is on this page.

Who it's for

Family photos
A portrait that breathes and blinks for a moment, from the photo you already have.
Creators
A still from a shoot turned into a few seconds of motion for Reels, TikTok and stories.
Food and product posts
Steam rising from a dish, or a slow push-in on a product, where a still would scroll past.

What you get

A 5 or 10 second clip
In 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, or 16:9 for the web and YouTube.
Four motions
Living photo, smile, breeze, or a slow cinematic push-in with depth behind the subject.
The photo as it was
The recipe asks for the same people, faces, clothes and background, with nothing new added and no cuts.
A silent clip
No music or voice, so you can put your own sound under it.

Questions

Animate a photo, answered

Does it work on old family photos?
Yes. For a faded or scratched print, run it through Restore old photo first and animate the restored copy, so the model starts from a clean face.
Will the face change?
The recipe asks the model to keep every face, outfit and background as in the photo. Small things can still drift, or appear, such as a branch at a window, so watch each clip and run it again if something moved.
Whose photo can I use?
Your own photos, or photos of people who agreed to it. Leap's Acceptable Use Policy forbids impersonating anyone or making deceptive fakes of real people.
What does Animate a photo make?
Any photo brought to life with subtle, real motion: a smile, a breeze or a slow cinematic push-in.
What photo works best?
Any photo: people, a pet or a place. It is cropped to the video's shape.
How does it work?
Add any photo: people, a pet, a dish or a place. Pick the motion: living photo, smile, breeze or a slow push-in. Get the clip in about two minutes.
What can I choose?
Motion: Living photo, Smile, Breeze or Cinematic push-in.
How much does it cost?
From $0.12 a second, and you see the exact price before you press go. A run that fails costs nothing, there is no subscription, and your first top-up has no card fee.
Can I use the result commercially?
Yes. You own what you make on Leap, so you can use it commercially, and we never train AI on it. The people and brands shown in a result can still have rights in it; the Terms say more.
Can I run it from code?
Yes. Developers run it as leap/animate-photo through the Leap API, at the same price, with the same choices.

It runs on Kling 2.6, with the prompting done for you. Rather write your own? Open a model's page and start from there.
