How it compares
Prices for the others are from their own pages, Thumbtack and Photography Shark, as of October 2026. See the full breakdown of what headshots cost.
| This generator | A photographer | Headshot packs | ChatGPT or Gemini | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What you pay | Per headshot, shown before each run | About $300 a session in the US, often with 1 to 3 retouched photos | Mostly $29–79 for 20–200 images | Free tiers, or a subscription |
| Photos you send | 1 to 4 | None: you sit for it | 1 to 20, by product | 1 per prompt |
| How long | A minute or two a run | A booking, then days for edits | 15 minutes to 2 hours | Seconds a try |
| What you choose | Backdrop, outfit, expression, glasses, crop | Everything, in person | Styles from a menu | Whatever you can describe |
| Looking like you | Your features kept, nothing beautified | It is you | Varies; reviews often say it doesn't look like me | Drifts from try to try |
Questions people ask
About likeness, LinkedIn, price and your photos.
Many do, and the reasons are known: skin smoothed to plastic, a slimmer or younger face, and a selfie's wide-angle nose carried into a studio shot. This generator asks for the opposite: visible pores, flyaway hairs, your real age and build, and the proportions of an 85mm lens from two meters. Look at the runs above at full size and judge for yourself.
LinkedIn's rule is that your profile photo must reflect your likeness. A headshot that looks like you on a good day fits that; one that makes you younger, thinner or someone else doesn't. If someone asks whether it is AI-made, say so: in Ringover's 2024 survey of 1,087 recruiters, 88% said candidates should make it clear when they use one.
Not reliably by eye. In the same survey, recruiters spotted AI headshots only 39.5% of the time, though 80% believed they had. Two in three said they would be put off a candidate if they recognized one, which is why a headshot that looks like you, and honesty when asked, matter more than passing as a photo.
One works. Three work best: one straight on, one with your head turned a little, and one someone else took from a few steps back. Different angles teach the model your face instead of one photo's lens, light and expression. Use sharp photos of you alone, without sunglasses or a beauty filter.
It is built to keep what is yours: skin tone and undertone, freckles, moles, scars, wrinkles, facial hair, hairline and hair texture. Glasses stay the same frames unless you choose no glasses. A head covering in your photos stays as it is. If a run changes any of these, run it again; don't settle for a stranger.
Some runs will miss: the same photos give a different take each time. Add a second or third photo from another angle, which helps more than anything else, and run again. You see the price before every run, and a run that fails costs nothing.
You pay per headshot, and the exact price is on the Generate button before you press it. There is no subscription and no pack to buy: you add credit from $5, and your first top-up has no card fee.
Yes, with a good prompt and some patience: our guide to AI headshot prompts has ones that work. You get one image per try, the face drifts between tries, and getting a matching set takes many attempts. This generator does the prompting for you, with a photographer's lens, lighting and posing for each backdrop.
You do, as between you and Leap, to the extent the law allows. In some countries AI-made images may not be protected by copyright, so nobody can promise a result is unique.
No. Your photos are used only to make the headshots you ask for; the model provider receives them for that run. Leap does not use your photos or results to train AI models, and does not create or keep a faceprint.
A square photo, at least 400 by 400 pixels, with your face filling about 60% of the frame so the round crop keeps your whole head. Choose the 1:1 crop: it comes out at 2K, far above the minimum.
Yes: send everyone the same backdrop, outfit and crop to choose, and the set will read as one shoot. Each person runs their own headshot from their own photos. There is no shared team link yet.
For developers
