ChatGPT Watermark Remover

Paste text copied from ChatGPT or another AI tool to see which hidden Unicode characters it carries, such as narrow no-break spaces and zero-width spaces, and how many of each. One button removes them or turns them into normal spaces, and the text never leaves your browser.Updated

What people call a ChatGPT watermark

Copy an answer out of some AI chats and a few characters you can't see may come with it. They are special spaces and similar characters: the narrow no-break space (U+202F) and the no-break space (U+00A0) look like a normal space, and the zero-width space (U+200B) takes up no room at all. That is usually what people mean when they talk about a ChatGPT watermark.Software treats them as real characters. A search for a word with a zero-width space inside it finds nothing, a character count runs high, no-break spaces keep words stuck together at the end of a line, and any editor or checker that displays hidden characters will show them.

What the remover finds and what it does with each

Paste your text and press Remove invisible characters. You get a list of each kind of hidden character found, with its name, its Unicode code and how many times it appears, then the cleaned text and a button to copy it. If there is nothing hidden, it tells you the text is clean.
  • Narrow no-break spaces (U+202F) and no-break spaces (U+00A0) become normal spaces, so the words stay apart.
  • Zero-width spaces (U+200B), zero-width joiners and non-joiners (U+200D, U+200C), word joiners (U+2060) and byte order marks (U+FEFF) are removed.
  • Soft hyphens (U+00AD), left-to-right and right-to-left marks (U+200E, U+200F) and the Mongolian vowel separator (U+180E) are removed.
  • Any other Unicode format character, such as a text direction control or a tag character, is removed and listed as a format character.
Letters, punctuation, line breaks, tabs and ordinary spaces stay as they were.

What removing them won't change

The cleanup only touches characters, so every word stays where it was. A score that comes from how the text is written, like an AI detector's reading of word choice and sentence rhythm, sees the same text afterwards, and no tool can promise what a detector will say. If you want a read on the writing itself, the AI detector gives a signal, never proof.

Em dashes, Markdown and stock phrases

Hidden characters are one leftover of pasting from a chatbot. Em dashes, curly quotes, ** bold markers and # headings are visible formatting, and this tool leaves them alone. The AI text formatter turns em dashes into commas, straightens quotes and strips the Markdown. For the wording, the AI humanizer swaps stock AI phrases for plainer ones and flags sentences that run the same length as their neighbors, so you can vary them. It removes hidden characters on the way as well.

When to keep some of them

A few of these characters have a job. A no-break space keeps "10 km" or "p. 12" on one line, and French typography puts one before a colon, a question mark or an exclamation mark; after cleaning, these become ordinary spaces. The zero-width joiner holds some emoji together, such as families, a person at a laptop or the rainbow flag, so those split into separate emoji. Persian and several Indic scripts use joiners and non-joiners in normal spelling, so text in those languages is better left as it is.
